Pave beads bracelet
Create a pave beads bracelet!
You will need :
• 7 8-mm or 10-mm pave beads
• 2 smaller metal beads
• 3 m of waxed cotton or other cord
• 50-cm length of centre or lazy cord (on which the beads are strung)
• 2-m length of knotting cord (folded in half to create a right-hand cord and a left-hand cord used to tie knots in the centre cord)
• 50-cm length of cord (for the closure)
Instructions :
Bracelet:
1. String the beads on the centre cord.
2. Tape the centre cord to a bead mat, leaving a 15-cm tail at the top. Load your beads at the bottom and push them up one at a time, as
needed.
3. Tie your 2-m length of knotting cord to the centre cord, making sure that each side (the right-hand cord and the left-hand cord) is equal
(approx. 1 m). Use the right-hand and left-hand cords to create a length of 5 knots (see “how to tie a basic knot” below).
4. Push up a bead along the centre cord and tie 3 more knots (the knotting cord will border the bead). Repeat these steps, alternating between 3 knots and 1 bead, until the final bead is added.
5. Create a length of 5 knots and add a dab of glue to the final knot. Trim the excess knotting cord once the glue is dry.
How to make the closure:
1. Thread a metal stopper bead onto each end of the centre cord.
2. Knot to keep the stopper beads in place, making sure to measure the length of cord needed to slip on the bracelet.
3. Tape the two ends of the cord to your bead mat so that they overlap.
4. Take your remaining 50-cm length of cord, tie on the remaining cord in the same way as before and make 5 knots around the two overlapping ends of cord.
5. Apply a dab of glue to the final knot and trim the excess cord once the glue is dry. Your bracelet is ready to wear!
How to make a basic knot:
1. Place the left-hand cord under the centre cord and over the right-hand cord. Then, take the
right-hand cord over the centre cord and through the left-hand loop. Tighten the knot by pulling on
the two lengths of cord.
2. Place the right-hand cord under the centre cord and over the left-hand cord. Then, take the
left-hand cord over the centre cord and through the right-hand loop. Tighten the knot by pulling on the two lengths of cord.
