How to Give an Original Gift Card

Step 1:  Use your gift card as a ruler to make a paper pattern. Trace the shape of your gift card 3 times, one on top of the other, to make the height of the card holder, then trace 5/8 of the length of your card on either side of the middle rectangle to make the arms. Trim the edges of the paper arms to form mitten shapes and round the corners of the top rectangle to form a head. This is your base pattern.

Step 2: Trace and cut your paper pattern out of coloured cardstock. Choose brown paper for a reindeer, red for a Santa or white to make a snowman.

Step 3: Decorate your card. Use markers to draw a face and decorate the mittens or cut and glue decorative paper shapes. Cut a carrot nose, a snug toque and lumps of coal from coloured paper to bring gift card snowman to life!

Step 4: Fold and stuff. Place a gift card in the middle of the card holder and fold the bottom flap up over it. Fold in both arms over the bottom flap and secure them in place with a sticker. Now, stuff those stockings and spread the holiday cheer!
