Part 1 : Demonstration and explanation of materials
To begin, Maud will show you which paper to use when creating collage backgrounds on canvas, as well as the preferred acrylic mediums for gluing. She will also talk about acrylic paint and brushes.
Part 2 :
Starting the project (step 1)
In part two, Maud will tell you all about the art of collage and which papers to use. You will create the collage background with newspaper, and then once it’s dry, the portrait.
Part 3 :
Creating the portrait (step 2)
Step by step, Maud will show you how to make a portrait, while giving you relevant information on how to draw a human face with accurate and harmonious features.
List of materials to bring:
✓ HB and/or B pencils
✓ Canvas (cardboard or mounted, 8 x 10 in)
✓ Glossy gel medium
✓ Brushes of all sizes (square, round, fine) with hog hair and synthetic bristles (one ¾ in wide square brush, one ½ in square brush, one ¼ in square brush)
✓ Acrylic paint (white and black)
✓ Decorative paper or newspaper for the collage
✓ Glass jar of water
✓ Well palette for mixing colours
