Acrylic: How to Paint a Realistic Fox (FR)

Explore all the necessary techniques to paint a fox with eyes as realistic as they are mysterious. In this 2.5-hour workshop, Marie-Hélène will share her techniques for creating not only a fox, but also other animals using acrylic paint: mixing colours, creating light and shadow effects, creating fur texture, etc. The perfect workshop for unleashing your creativity, while capturing the beauty of the fox … sly adventurer of our forests!

Part 1: Exploring materials and colour mixing

After reviewing the materials needed for the workshop, Marie-Hélène will guide you through colour preparation.


Part 2: Creating your background

In Part 2, you will create your first layer of colour. You will also explore gradient and fading techniques.


Part 3: Creating your fox

Here is where you will create your beautiful fox. Marie-Hélène will guide you through all the steps!

 

List of materials to bring:

✓ A set of acrylic colours (ideally including Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna)
✓ A set of acrylic paintbrushes
✓ A comb brush (medium size)
✓ A painting knife (diamond shape, medium size)
✓ A small canvas or canvas board (approximately 10 x 10 in)
✓ A palette for mixing colours
✓ A rag
✓ A water container
✓ A graphite pencil
✓ A printed version of the attached sketch
