Create beautiful Japanese character-themed paintings, while learning more about a super versatile medium: acrylic! To begin, artist Maud Besson will present all the necessary materials and how to use them.
You will learn how to create characters on paper using acrylic paint, as well as how to create patterns and other details with a fine brush. Step by step, Maud will show you all her techniques! A wonderful project that allows you to unleash your creativity, while exploring the beauty of Japan.

Part 1: Getting to know your materialsTo begin, Maud will go through all the necessary materials for creating illustrations, such as papers, acrylics and brushes.
Part 2: Project time (step 1)In part two, Maud will explain her techniques for drawing a character using a HB pencil.
Part 3: Project time (step 2)To end the workshop, Maud will provide useful tips and tricks on how to accurately draw a small character.
List of materials to bring:
✓ DeSerres HB or H graphite pencils
✓ Watercolour or acrylic paper (300 g thickness)
✓ Set of hog bristle and synthetic bristle brushes in all sizes (square brushes, round brushes, and a very fine brush; including one 3/4" wide square brush, one 1/2" square brush, and one 1/4" square brush)
✓ Acrylic kit (primary colours, black and white)
✓ Masonite board (approximately 11 x 14 in)
✓ Low-tack green tape
✓ 1 glass jar of water
✓ A well palette to mix your colours
✓ Hair dryer
