Open to intermediates (Prerequisite class: Introduction to Pastel or equivalent)
Ages 15 to 99.
*This workshop is recorded (you will receive the video link 48 to 72 hours after the workshop)
Part 1: Sketch
A 6x9 grid (1-inch squares) must be lightly sketched in pastel on the back of your half-tint paper before the start of class. We'll position the drawing using the checkerboard technique. We will work on visualizing angles, empty spaces and volumes.
Part 2: Values
We will reproduce volumes by applying light and dark shades in the right places. We will work on transitions between shades to obtain the right gradations and to shape the face.
Part 3: Finishing touches and fine details
We will learn to adjust our drawing using fading and detailing to improve resemblance and achieve a realistic gaze.
