Explore the relaxing art of colour mixing and expand your knowledge of colour theory with BC-based artist Kathryn Wadel! In this oil painting workshop, Kathryn will demonstrate colour mixing recipes, as well as techniques for balancing warm with cool tones, and creating contrast and harmony. You’ll be able to practice your colour mixing techniques, develop a series of colour recipe references, and create an abstract painting with your favourite colour palette.

Open to beginners.

Part 1 :
Get to know your materials

Kathryn will provide an overview of all painting materials needed for the workshop. She’ll also show you how to set up your palette for success!

Part 2 :
Colour mixing demonstration & painting practice

Kathryn will guide you through colour mixing with oil paints, as well as the creation of a recipe guide. You’ll be able to create an abstract oil painting using your favourite colour palette.

Part 3 :
 Abstract painting + clean up Q & A

To end the workshop, Kathryn will demonstrate eco-conscious brush cleaning and maintenance techniques to keep your tools in top shape. There will then be a Q & A session to answer all your oil painting questions.
