Explore drawing and watercolour techniques while creating beautiful, feline-themed portraits. In this two-hour workshop, artist Maud Besson will first present all the necessary materials and their use. You will then learn how to make animal portraits, as well as how to use watercolour markers and pencils. Step by step, Maud will show you all her techniques!

Part 1: Get to know your materials
To begin, Maud will show you all the materials needed for the workshop, including papers, pencils, as well as watercolours and brushes.
Part 2: Project time!
In part two, Maud will guide you through the steps to create cat portraits. You will have the chance to discover or rediscover several drawing and watercolour techniques, while obtaining simple and practical tips for using watercolour markers and pencils.
List of materials to bring:
✓ DeSerres graphite pencil set (HB or H)
✓ Staedtler eraser
✓ Watercolour brushes (medium #12, fine #2 and very fine)
✓ Watercolour paper (9 x 12 in, 300 g ideally)
✓ Permanent markers in different sizes (Staedtler, Micron, Faber-Castell or Molotow)
✓ Black watercolour marker
✓ Black watercolour pencil
✓ A well palette to mix your colours
✓ Masonite board (approximately 11 x 14 in) *if not using a sketchbook
✓ Low-tack masking tape *if not using a sketchbook
✓ 2 jars of water
✓ Paper towels
✓ Hair dryer
✓ Watercolour paper to test colours before applying them
✓ A copy of the PDF file with the templates needed to complete the projects during the workshop
