You’ll explore how paper selection can inform your creative expression, using Bristol paper, pastel paper, sketching paper, handmade paper, and more! A lovely workshop for getting started with drawing.

Part 1: Get to know your tools and techniques
In Part 1, Kathryn will introduce the drawing materials, including visual examples of their applications. She’ll guide you through exercises to test the tools, as well as create gradient scales, three-dimensional shapes and expressive linework on different types of drawing paper.
Part 2: Combining techniques and drawing practice
In Part 2, Kathryn will demonstrate how she combines these techniques to create simple drawings using graphite, pastel and ink on paper. She’ll share her artistic approach and helpful tips for experimenting. Participants are welcome to practice combining the techniques to create a personalised drawing.
