Enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon creating mixed media and collage artwork! BC-based artist Kathryn Wadel will introduce you to fun, creative acrylic painting and collage techniques as she guides you through the steps to create an expressive and unique work of art on paper. Get your friends together online and bring your creative spirit, acrylic paints and images to collage!

Part 1: Materials & techniquesTo begin, Kathryn will provide an overview of the workshop materials. She will then cover application techniques for collage and painting practices.
Part 2: Composition, colour & collageIn part two, Kathryn will guide participants through compositional development, colour mixing, painting and collage layering techniques to create unique mixed media artwork.
Part 3: Eco-conscious cleanup + Q & ATo end the workshop, Kathryn will demonstrate eco-conscious brush cleaning and maintenance practices to keep your tools in top shape. She will then answer all your mixed media collage and painting questions in a Q & A.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Canvas pad/paper or watercolour paper (9 x 12 in)
✓ Acrylic paints (Naphthol Red or Cadmium Red Hue, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light or Bright Yellow and Titanium White)
✓ Acrylic paintbrushes (flat, round and filbert; synthetic bristles; sizes between 2-8)
✓ Paper towel or painting rag
✓ Masonite board/support board (minimum 10 x 13 in)
✓ Painter’s tape
✓ Two recycled glass/plastic jars
✓ Palette or palette paper
✓ Palette knife
✓ Acrylic medium (Gloss Gel Medium)
✓ Images, photos, newspapers, magazines, etc.
