Part 1:
Collecting recycled papers

Saturday, September 2nd 2023

To begin, you'll need to collect recycled papers! Think old books, sheet music, kraft paper, in short, get creative. You'll be engraving designs on absorbent backing paper.

Using the gel plate, tissue paper, typing paper, stencils and stamps, you'll make your own collage papers through printing. You'll also create collage backgrounds in a mixed media notebook, still with a black and white theme, and using recycled materials (tissue paper, newspaper, old handwritten letters).

Part 2: Adding colour to absorbent backgrounds

Saturday, September 16th 2023

In Part 2, you'll add colour to your backgrounds using watercolours, various inks, paints and markers. You'll look for ways to express your creative style by adding decorative details. Stamps, stencils of all kinds and oil pastels will allow you to add touches of colour and markings to your work. Finally, you will analyse your creations and adjust details using finer, more precise tools such as markers, brushes and quills.
