Part I: Background painting and sketchingPart I will be held on Sunday, May 1st at 1:00 P.M. (EST). It is recommended to have followed part I to participate in part II of this workshop.
Part II: Cherry blossom painting and detailsIn Part II, Kathryn will guide you through colour mixing, brushwork and painting techniques to create beautiful, blooming cherry blossoms on canvas.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Graphite pencil
✓ Pencil sharpener
✓ Scrap paper or sketchbook
✓ Painter’s tape
✓ Palette, palette paper or recycled plastic container with lid
✓ Palette knife
✓ Synthetic acrylic paintbrushes (flat, round, filbert and angle; sizes between 2-10)
✓ Primed stretched canvas, canvas board or canvas pad (9 x 12 in)
✓ Masonite board/support surface (approximately 1-2 in larger than canvas size)
✓ Acrylic paint (including, but not limited to: bright red or cadmium red hue, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow or bright yellow, titanium white and zinc white)
✓ Paper towel or up-cycled cotton rag
✓ Upcycled plastic or glass jars (for paint water)
✓ Easel (optional)
