Part 1: Material overview, initial sketch and underpainting

Gabrielle will talk about the materials used in the class. Gabrielle will then discuss and demonstrate how to make a pleasing composition in pencil. Part 1 will conclude with the underpainting layer using a loose wet-on-wet technique.

Part 2: Secondary and final painting layers and optional ink drawing

Gabrielle will demonstrate how to build up layers in a watercolour painting, creating depth and contrast. The class will conclude with an optional final layer of ink to bring emphasis and an illustrative aesthetic to the painting.
