Recreate one of the most famous and most photographed bridges in the world: the Golden Gate in San Francisco! In this two-hour workshop, artist Maud Besson will first present all the necessary materials and how to use them. You will then explore techniques to create beautiful watercolour backgrounds with a variety of vibrant colours and blends. Step by step, Maud will show you all her techniques!

Part 1 : 
Getting to know your materials

To begin, Maud will show you all the materials needed for the workshop, including papers, pencils, as well as watercolours and brushes.

Part 2 :
 Exploring techniques

In part two, Maud will explain how to create beautiful watercolour backgrounds on paper, using a wet and a dry technique.

Part 3 :
 Project time!

Here, Maud will guide you through the project, starting with the background. You will have the chance to discover or rediscover several drawing, perspective and watercolour techniques, while obtaining simple and practical tools. All of this through easy-to-follow steps!


List of materials to bring:

✓ DeSerres graphite pencil set (HB or H)
✓ Staedtler eraser
✓ Watercolour brushes (medium & fine)
✓ Watercolour paint (minimum 10-12 colours, in jars or tubes)
✓ Winsor & Newton iridescent medium
✓ Watercolour paper (sheet, 9 x 12 in or smaller OR minimum 300 g)
✓ A well palette to mix your colours
✓ Masonite board (approximately 11 x 14 in)
✓ Low-tack masking tape
✓ 2 jars of water
✓ Paper towels
✓ Cloth
✓ Hair dryer
✓ Watercolour paper to test colours before applying them
✓ A copy of the PDF file with the templates needed to complete the projects during the workshop
