Watercolour Workshop: Painting the Sky (FR)

Explore the sky in all its emotions! An essential element of landscape painting, the sky determines the overall mood of a subject. Marie-Hélène invites you to explore a variety of techniques, from clear skies to stormy clouds to sunsets and their fiery colours. To finish the workshop, you will create a lightning sky over the St. Lawrence River. A revitalising workshop for watercolourists of all levels.

Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 14 to 100.

Part 1: Exploring different techniques

In Part 1, you will explore different techniques for painting the different moods of the sky. You will learn about gradient techniques, as well as several ways to paint clouds.


Part 2: Painting a landscape

In Part 2, you will put the techniques you have learned into practice by creating a lightning sky over water.

 

List of materials to bring:

✓ A watercolour set
✓ A well palette to mix your colours
✓ A set of different-sized watercolour brushes
✓ Two sheets of watercolour paper (9 x 12 in, 140 lb, cold press)
✓ Masking tape or Washi tape
✓ Absorbent cloth
✓ Two cups of water
