Destination: West Coast, Canada! In this 1.5-hour workshop, you will learn how to paint a vibrant landscape using gouache paint. The use of different brushes, layering and colour mixing are but some of the concepts and techniques you will explore to create both illustrative flair and depth in your artwork. All experience levels are welcome!
Open to beginner and intermediate skill levels.
Ages 14 to 99.

Part 1 : Material overview, sketch and underpainting
In Part 1, Gabrielle will go over all the necessary materials. She will then demonstrate how to lay down a sketch, as well as an underpainting layer, which will set the tone for your artwork.
Part 2 : Background, middle ground and foreground painting
In Part 2, Gabrielle will demonstrate how to add in the different components of the landscape, working from the background toward the foreground. You will then complete your painting by adding in any finishing touches.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Watercolour paper (140 lb, minimum size 8 x 10 in)
✓ Gouache paint (acrylic or water-based; Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Hooker’s Green, Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Magenta or Rose)
✓ Paintbrushes (2, 4 and 8 round brushes and a medium size flat brush)
✓ Jar or container for water
✓ Paper towel
✓ Palette
✓ Painting surface such as a masonite board
