In this class, students will learn how to paint a wintery landscape in gouache paint. Students will learn about the wet-on-wet technique, layering and different brushwork techniques using a limited palette.
Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 14 to 99.

Part 1: Material Overview and Background Painting
Gabrielle will present materials and will then demonstrate colour mixing and how to create a wintery sky using a wet-on-wet technique.
Part 2: Layering and Brushwork Techniques
Gabrielle will demonstrate layering and brushwork techniques to build up a convincing winter landscape.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Watercolour paper - 140 lb. cold pressed (minimum size 9x12 inches)
✓ Gouache paint - acrylic or water-based (Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White, Primary Yellow, Red, Black)
✓ Watercolour brushes (a few round brushes - #2, #4, #8)
✓ Jar/container of water
✓ Masking tape
✓ Painting surface (Masonite board)
✓ Paper towel
✓ Paint palette
✓ Photo reference
