In a small workshop of 50 square metres on Lake Maggiore in Italy, a talented furniture restorer and his wife began making painters’ easels circa 1948. A decade later, they formally established their business as a company called Mariotto De Martin e Figli. Thirty years later they renamed it MABEF, a name now internationally recognized for high-quality Italian easels.
Initially, MABEF could produce very few easels per year, but as resources permitted and the interest in the brand grew, new workshops were built and more craftsmen employed. In 2003, their annual production was reported at 250,000 units.
MABEF is a market leader and sells easels in more than 40 countries around the world.
