Intermediate Oil Painting:
Exploring Abstract Expressionism [2.5 hours]

Friday, January 18th 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
In this project-based class, the instructor will give students a brief history of Abstract Expressionism and introduce them to oil painting techniques. Students will develop technical skills for colour mixing and mixing oil paint with mediums. They will also practice additive and subtractive painting techniques using paint brushes, palette knives and painting rags to create their own abstract, expressionist painting on canvas.

Collage & Resin Coating on Wood [2.5 hours]

In this project-oriented class, students will create personalized collage artwork on wood panels using photographs and polymer medium. Through a step-by-step process, the instructor will guide students through the techniques to give their collages a high-gloss, archival finish using professional quality resin. Students are encouraged to bring printed photographs, magazines and newspapers. Additional images will also be provided. The skills learned in our Introduction to Resin class are an asset, but not required.
