Intermediate Watercolour Painting: Texture Techniques

In this intermediate painting class, students will be introduced to creative watercolour painting techniques using masking fluid, plastic wrap, salt, straws, rubbing alcohol, and more! The instructor will guide students through the application of these techniques to create a series of beautiful watercolour texture paintings on archival cold-press watercolour paper. The skills learned in this class can be further developed in our advanced watercolour painting classes.

In this introductory class, students will learn step-by-step weaving techniques to create a tapestry artwork. The instructor will guide students through warping a loom, adding a tension thread, weaving techniques and how to safely detach the artwork from the loom.

Through a step-by-step process, the instructor will guide students through the application techniques required to give each artwork a high-gloss and archival finish using professional quality resin. One-on-One Art Projects [1 hour]

Wednesday, May 1st – Friday, May 31st— By appointment
In this private studio session, students can book a one-on-one appointment to work on a personalized artwork with guidance of the instructor. Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their artistic practice, improve their knowledge of DeSerres art materials, apply techniques, develop compositional development, and work on a personalized artwork in the process. Projects can range from drawing, mixed media, and painting with acrylics, oils or watercolours. Students are required to book a free consultation with the instructor to discuss their projects prior to registering for their private studio session.

In this project-oriented class, students will create personalized collage artwork on wood panels using photographs and polymer medium. Through a step-by-step process, the instructor will guide students through the techniques to give their collages a high gloss and archival finish using professional quality resin. Students are encouraged to bring printed photographs, magazines and newspapers. Additional images will also be provided. The skills learned in our Introduction to Resin class are an asset, but not required.

The instructor will guide students through the resin tinting process to achieve dimension through transparent and translucent layering. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with the materials and techniques to create abstract resin artwork on plexiglass. The skills learned in our Introduction to Resin on Wood class are an asset, but not required.
