Pompons are the bomb!

Nos petits doigts blogger Chloé revamps the classic shirt with two of the most current trends: colourful wool pompoms and beading. Get ready to shake your pompoms!

  • Wool
  • Pompom maker
  • Pearls and beads
  • Embroidery needle and thread
  • Embroidery frame
  • Scissors
  • Broach pins

How to customize clothing with pompoms and beading?

Step 1: Make pompoms using a pompom maker. To make multi-coloured pompoms, simply stop working with one colour and switch to another. For more texture and style, make various sized pompoms of different colours.

Step 2: Attach pompoms with broach pins (a great trick to easily remove and reattach them). Note: We don’t recommend sewing the pompoms directly onto the shirt as they may get damaged in the wash.

Step 3: Continue personalizing the shirt with the beading. Place the embroidery frame over the chosen area. To attach a pearl or bead, stich the fabric from back to front, thread the bead and finish the stich from front to back. Repeat several times to secure the bead. Note: We used black thread to clearly demonstrate the technique, but it’s best to use thread that is the same colour as the item of clothing.

Choose thick cotton clothing for more structure and better hold. Use pompoms and beading to personalize all kinds of accessories from jean jackets, to cotton bags to blankets...
