Project by Miss Cloudy

Although the crane is often represented in origami with pointed wings, the below project is an excellent example of how we can build differently with paper. Miss Cloudy on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/misscloudymtl/

Instructions:

Step 1: Choose a paper weighing between 160 and 270 grams.

Step 2: Make a pre-folding grid using a bending bone, so that the paper is malleable. The V-folds will give a three-dimensional architectural style.

Step 3: The Mountain Fold will elevate the paper while the Valley fold will create a gap, thus generating volume.

Step 4: Apply double-sided tape or an acid-free glue (to avoid damaging the paper).

Step 5: Attach the different pieces of paper so it will close like an accordion.

Step 6: Bring together the ends of the new piece and raise it up to give it a third dimension.

You will need:

  • Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper, Grand Format
  • Bone folder
  • Clear double-sided tape
