Using a drawing gum marker with watercolours

from $1.99

Add precision to your artwork, embrace negative space and make your life easier! Let Nos petits doigts blogger Chloé show you a simple and convincing technique.

Instructions:

How to use Pébéo’s masking gum marker?

Step 1: Use the marker to trace over the lines you want to leave white. The translucent blue liquid allows you to see where you’re at in your work. Let dry. Note: For added precision, we used a pencil to trace the lines that were to be gummed beforehand. This step is optional, but it makes the process easier.

Step 2: Paint with watercolours. No need to worry about the gum, paint over it as needed. Let dry.

Step 3: Remove the dried masking fluid with the masking fluid eraser. Your white sections will reappear like magic! Note: Erase the pencil marks if you traced lines beforehand.

You will need:

  • Drawing gum marker
  • Watercolour paper
  • Watercolours
  • Brushes
  • Masking fluid eraser
  • Scissors
  • HB pencil
  • Eraser

Test and practice applying the gum to small details (stars, dots, designs, leaves…)
