In this introductory class, students will learn how to mount photographs onto wood and apply a high-gloss, archival finish using professional quality resin. Step-by-step, the instructor will guide students through photo mounting techniques and the resin application process. Students are encouraged to bring a printed photograph to personalize their project. Additional images will also be provided. The skills learned in this class can be further developed in our Abstract Resin Artwork on Wood class.

In this technique-based class, students will learn the basics of colour mixing: tints, shades, primary, secondary and tertiary colours. Students will mix personalized colour palettes and develop contract, harmony and gradation to create a series of colour studies on canvas paper.

Intermediate Oil Painting:
Exploring Abstract Expressionism [2.5 hours]

In this project-based class, the instructor will give students a brief history of Abstract Expressionism and introduce them to oil painting techniques. Students will develop technical skills for colour mixing and mixing oil paint with mediums. They will also practice additive and subtractive painting techniques using paint brushes, palette knives and painting rags to create their own abstract, expressionist painting on canvas.
