Oil Painting: Colour Theory

Friday, August 17th 5:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
In this introductory class, your instructor will review the psychology of colour and demonstrate technical skills to practice colour mixing and application. Students will learn how to combine primary, secondary and tertiary colours to develop contrast, harmony, gradation, and apply their personalized colour schemes to create an abstract acrylic painting on canvas.

Plein Air Drawing

Saturday, August 18th 2:00 p.m. — 4:30 p.m.
In this outdoor drawing class, your instructor will guide you through observational sketching and drawing techniques to create a Vancouver-inspired cityscape drawing. Students will meet at the DeSerres on Broadway for a brief introduction, then head outside to practice perspective draw-ing in the surrounding neighbourhood. Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and proper sun/rain protection.

Watercolour Projects: Floral Illustration

In this project-oriented class, students will create personalized collage artwork on wood panels using photographs and polymer medium. Through a step-by-step process, your instructor will guide you through the techniques needed to give your collage a high gloss and archival finish using professional quality resin. Students are encouraged to bring personal photographs, maga-zines and newspapers for their artwork. The skills learned in our Introduction to Resin class are an asset, but not required.
