Choose from our selection of introductory, intermediate and advanced level classes offered this month. Intermediate Watercolour Painting: Texture Techniques

Friday, March 15 — 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
In this intermediate painting class, students will be introduced to creative watercolour painting techniques using masking fluid, plastic wrap, salt, straws, rubbing alcohol, and more! The instructor will guide students through the application of these techniques to create a series of beautiful watercolour texture paintings on archival cold-press watercolour paper. The skills learned in this class can be further developed in our advanced watercolour painting classes.

Introduction to Lino Block Printmaking

In this introductory class, students will learn step-by-step weaving techniques to create a tapestry artwork. The instructor will guide students through warping a loom, adding a tension thread, weaving techniques and how to safely detach the artwork from the loom.

Intermediate Lino Block Printmaking: Personalized Projects

In this project-oriented class, the instructor will guide students though transferring images onto lino blocks, using cutting tools, and printing techniques to create a unique series of coloured prints on archival printmaking paper. Students are encouraged to bring in a printed reference photo to personalize their print series.

Intermediate Fluid Acrylic Painting: The Dirty Pour Technique

In this intermediate acrylic painting class, the instructor will guide students through mixing fluid acrylic paints, pouring medium, and creating cellular effects using the dirty pour painting technique. Students will customize their colour palettes and practise the dirty pour technique to create an abstract fluid acrylic painting on canvas.

Advanced Acrylic Painting Techniques: Exploring Abstract Expressionism

In this experimental painting class, the instructor will introduce students to acrylic paints and painting techniques used in Abstract Expressionism. Students will learn a brief history of Abstract Expressionist artists and practise their painting techniques to create a contemporary abstract expressionist painting on canvas. The skills learned in our Introduction to Acrylic Painting and Introduction to Acrylic Colour Theory classes are an asset, but not required.
