INSTRUCTIONS:

How to explore mixed media painting

Step 1:

Liquid glass paints can be applied with a brush or poured. No need to add a pouring medium to your paints as they are ready to use as is! Using a wood panel with an edge, create a pour painted liquid glass background. Add a few drops of silicone oil to create cells and try the flip cup technique. Step 2:

After your background has dried, cut and collage interesting images from decorative papers onto your panel.

Step 3:

To tone down your background and create texture, rub some white acrylic paint onto your panel with a paper towel and wipe it off before it dries completely.

Step 4:

Coat a length of yarn in glue and arrange it on your surface so that it forms a closed shape. Once the yarn has dried in place, paint liquid glass into the partitions made by the yarn.

Step 5:

Continue adding paint, paper, found objects and more to your painting until it feels finished to you. Place your completed painting on a level surface and pour a layer of clear liquid glass pouring medium over the surface to varnish it. Allow your painting to lay flat until it is completely dry before displaying it.

TIPS:

  • Make sure your work area is level when working with liquid glass
  • Clean your brushes with soap and water immediately after use
