Landscape Charcoal Drawing for Beginners (EN)

Get inspired by the seasonal beauty of Canadian landscapes! In this two-hour, beginner-friendly workshop, Kathryn will review drawing techniques like hatching, pointillism, blending, and more. You'll then put these techniques into practice to create a landscape drawing on paper using charcoal. 

Open to beginners.
Ages 13 to 99.

Part 1: Get to know your tools and techniques

To begin, Kathryn will present the drawing materials, including visual examples of their applications. She’ll then guide you through exercises to test the tools and explore techniques like the creation of gradient scales, mark-making and expressive line work. 
 

Part 2: Combining techniques and drawing practise

Kathryn will demonstrate how she combines these techniques to create a simple landscape drawing on paper using charcoal. She’ll share her artistic approach, as well as helpful tips for drawing using charcoal. You will have the opportunity to practise combining techniques to create a personalised design.
