In this workshop, participants will learn about designing and painting a composition composed of geometric shapes inspired by the art of Paul Klee. Participants will learn about creating a harmonious palette and colour mixing as well as designing an interesting composition. This workshop is perfect for beginner watercolour painters as well as experienced artists looking to hone specific skills in colour.
Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 12 to 99.

Part 1: Material overview and drawing out the composition
In part 1 of this workshop, Gabrielle will go over the materials being used in this class. Gabrielle will then discuss and demonstrate creating a composition in pencil.
Part 2: Colour selection, mixing, and painting
In part 2 of this workshop, Gabrielle will go over choosing paint colours, colour mixing and testing, and painting in the composition working in a basic watercolour wash application.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Watercolour paper, minimum size 8”x10” plus a scrap for testing paint colours
✓ Watercolour paint: bring a variety of colours that interest you
✓ Watercolour brushes: a few different sizes of round brushes and/or a suitable size flat brush
✓ Watercolour palette
✓ Masking tape
✓ Jar/container of water
✓ Paper towel
✓ Painting surface (I used a masonite board)
✓ Pencil
