Lucie Vervaet

Our DeSerres expert Lucie Vervaet is curious by nature. A multi-talented artist, she’s particularly interested in painting, embroidery and mixed media.

There’s no shortage of creative ideas in Lucie’s world! 

A graduate in Visual Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Lucie began her art career creating large format paintings and acrylic resin casts. She’s constantly absorbing cultural knowledge from different fields and backgrounds and uses it in her creative process, both consciously and subconsciously. Her life experiences also nourish her need to express herself through art. Then follows a crucial part of her creative process—clearing her mind: “I have to clear my mind to create. React only to what is happening before my eyes, without judgment or expectations. That’s how I stimulate my senses. I therefore have access to tremendous freedom and vibrant authenticity. Anyone can benefit from this exercise.”

Lucie loves sharing her artistic knowledge and has been teaching painting at our Dix30 store for nearly 12 years. Her workshops are sharing-oriented and all methods are welcome: “Teaching is incredibly rewarding on a personal level. Sharing is so important. During my workshops, I give a lot and get back just as much. I share my knowledge of products, techniques and tools. We question, we talk, we create.”
