The right adhesive depends mostly on what you want to be able to do later. For works on paper, photographic prints and anything that may need to be moved or replaced without damage, a reversible linen or abaca mounting tape is the recommended choice: it removes cleanly without leaving residue on the support. For more permanent mounting where reversibility is not a priority, gummed tapes and double-sided adhesives provide a firmer, longer-lasting hold. Frame sealing tape protects the back of the frame against dust and humidity, extending the life of the framed work.
