INSTRUCTIONS:
How to paint with string
Step 1:
Mix your paint with pouring medium until it is a fairly fluid consistency. Cut a piece of yarn approximately 20 inches long and submerge it in the paint. As you pull the yarn out of the paint, gently remove some of the excess paint with your fingers.
Step 2:
Starting at the top of your paper, gently lay the yarn down without moving it around. Create natural loops of yarn as you place the yarn working your way to the edge of the canvas leaving a long tail of yarn for you to pull on.
Step 3:
Once the yarn is arranged, close your sketchbook or place another piece of paper over top of your yarn. Holding everything in place with your hand, gently pull the yarn out being careful not to wiggle it too much from side to side.
Step 4:
Open your book and admire your creation! This painting technique is so easy and fun to do you will want to make more right away! Experiment with adding different colours, using different thicknesses of yarn or combine this painting technique with others in your next mixed media painting!
