Hello, my name is Julie Donaldson. I’ve been a DeSerres expert and art teacher for many years. I love to explore. I'm a jack-of-all-trades, which allows me to master many different mediums: pastel, oil, acrylic, ink, watercolour, etc. I draw my inspiration from everything around me. Most of my works are figurative, portraits, animals, but I’ve been developing a more abstract, intuitive approach, as it allows me more freedom in terms of gesture and expression.
I’m based in Saguenay, where I share my passion through online and in-person workshops. I believe that art is for everyone. What motivates me to paint is a desire to let go of daily worries, to create for fun. I believe that drawing and painting can be learned when you are willing to try: with the right techniques and a lot of observation, you can do it. The important thing is to have fun!
In my online workshops, I have two cameras, one where you can see me talking, and the other (the main one) where you can see me painting or drawing. This allows students to easily see all the project steps. In my workshops, I believe it’s very important to explain my artistic approach, such as the choice of colour combinations, composition, and the importance of good observation to enhance your artwork. Feel free to ask questions via the Zoom chat, I love to chat with my students or take the time to explain in detail.
I look forward to seeing you at the next workshops!
