Acrylic gouache occupies a distinct space between traditional gouache and acrylic paint. It delivers the matte, opaque surface characteristic of gouache, with the durability and water resistance of acrylics once dry. It is the medium of choice for many illustrators and designers, valued for the crispness of its flat areas of colour, the vibrancy of its pigments and its ability to cover evenly even over dark grounds. It is water-soluble while wet, dries quickly and adheres to a wide range of surfaces including paper, board, canvas and wood. Unlike traditional gouache, it does not reactivate with water once dry, which allows layers to be built up without the risk of unintentional blending.
