Black precision markers are organized by tip size expressed in millimetres, and that number directly determines the intended use: a 0.05 mm or 0.1 mm tip produces a line that is barely visible to the naked eye, used for dense textures, crosshatching, and fine detail work in illustration. A tip from 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm covers the most versatile range for outlines, technical diagrams, and general linework. Above 0.8 mm, the marker is suited to primary outlines, small fills, and shadow areas built through line. The brush tip, flexible and pressure-sensitive, follows a different logic: it does not produce a fixed line weight but a responsive stroke whose thickness varies with pressure, making it particularly well-suited to inking characters, silhouettes, and illustration styles influenced by calligraphy.
