What does bio-based mean?

The resin base of a typical pro acrylic paint is made from 100% petrol-derived ingredients sourced from fossil fuels and other non-renewable substances. For bio-based products, Liquitex halved this, replacing ingredients with ones from renewable, biological sources. These come from living or once-living organisms like corn, soy, sugarcane and algae which can be regrown or replenished relatively quickly through natural or farming processes.

At Liquitex, every ingredient that has a bio-based alternative has been replaced and they’ve avoided any components or pigments derived from animals. As more bio-based ingredients become available, they’ll incorporate them.

As no fillers or extenders are used in DeSerres Professional Liquid Acrylics, once dry, most colours dry to a natural gloss finish, while those with larger pigment particles offer more of a satin finish.

These colours will not separate or settle in the jar and can be readily mixed with DeSerres mediums at any ratio, or with up to 50% water for increased transparency and cost efficiency. They dry to a flexible, water and light-resistant finish. Perfect for students and professionals.
