Speedball - Screen Printing

Together at last—this new set combines Diazo Photo Emulsion (26 oz) and Diazo Sensitizer (2 oz). Together, they offer professional-grade results and remove the need for expensive equipment and darkrooms. For use with polyester screen fabrics, Speedball’s Diazo Photo Emulsion and Sensitizer may be used with any water-soluble or solvent-based ink, and can be easily removed with Speedball’s Photo Emulsion Remover.

This is a complete kit for creating print ready screens using the photographic method. The Diazo method allows for fine line drawings, various lettering techniques and photographic half/tone positives.
This kit contains: 7 oz jar of photo emulsion, 8 oz jar of photo emulsion remover, one 1 oz bottle of condensed sensitizer and detailed instructions.

TIPS

1. Photo Emulsion should be washed out of your screen as soon as your print run is completed – unless you want a permanent stencil.
2. Adult supervision is recommended for this procedure. Wear rubber gloves and smock.
3. To REMOVE: (DO NOT APPLY WATER UNTIL EMULSION IS COMPLETELY REMOVED) Apply Speedball® Photo Emulsion Remover liberally to both sides of the stencil using a paintbrush. Immediately scrub both sides of the stencil with a dry nylon bristle brush. Again, apply Speedball® Photo Emulsion Remover liberally to both sides of the stencil. Keep the screen in a horizontal position for three (3) minutes. Scrub both sides with the nylon bristle brush and flush with a hard spray of hot water. Once you have started removing Photo Emulsion you must not let the screen dry or apply water until completely clean. Once the screen is clean and all emulsion has been removed you may then wash the screen out with water.
        

Acrylic extender base is designed to create a transparent color when mixed with Speedball screen printing inks. Mix any quantity to the ink.

Speedball Screen Filler can be used alone or with Speedball Drawing Fluid. The Screen Filler method of printing is called direct block-out or "Negative Method". This is where Screen Filler is used to block out those areas that you do not wish to print. This allows the ink to be forced through the screen wherever the Screen Filler has not been applied. This product is AP Non-Toxic and conforms to ASTM D-4236.

To clean up:
Use Speedball Speed Clean to remove screen filler or mix 1 cup of Arm & Hammer’s Washing Soda dissolved in one 1 gallon of water. Apply cleaner to both sides with paintbrush. Scrub with a nylon bristle brush. Apply again to both sides. Let stand in a horizontal position for three to five minutes. Scrub with a nylon bristle brush while spraying with a forceful stream of hot water.

This wooden frame for silkscreen printing includes base attachment, hinges and a support leg to help with print registering.

This 8 oz jar of transparent base medium is designed to be mixed with fabric or acrylic screen printing ink to create a transparent color. Do not add more than 10-15% to the ink.

Speed clean screen cleaner is a highly effective screen cleaner that makes removal of speedball screen filler and screen cleaning easy. This product has minimal odour.
