MATERIALS:
- Cloth Herschel Daypack backpack
- Embroidery floss
- Embroidery needle
- Embroidery hoop
- Scissors
- Pencil
INSTRUCTIONS:
How to stitch a unique back to school look
Step 1:
Place the inner hoop inside the bag and secure the outer hoop over it on the outside of the bag, stretching the fabric tight.
Step 2:
Use a pencil to lightly draw the pattern you would like to stitch onto your bag.
Step 3:
Thread your needle with brightly coloured embroidery floss, tie a knot at one end and stitch through the fabric following your design. For more information on different embroidery stitches, take a look at our tutorial here.
Step 4:
Move the hoop around to different parts of your bag to stitch motifs all over. If an area is too difficult to fit your hoop, try a smaller hoop or stitch freehand without one. Be careful not to pull your stitches too tight.
TIPS:
- Iron on patterns can also be used
- Secure the threads in the back and trim them
