Application :
Use undiluted or thin up to 25% with water. When thinning more that 25%, use an equal mixture of water and Liquitex Matte Medium to thin gesso. Tint with up to 10% Liquitex Soft Body or Heavy Body Artist Colours.

• Apply as a final varnish over dry acrylic paint.
• Varnish surface and environment must be clean, dry and dust free.
• Acrylic paintings must be completely dried and cured for 48-72 hours before varnishing. Thicker acrylic applications may take more time to cure.
• Application may be done by brush or spray. Generally a sprayed application will be thinner, smoother and more even. Rolling or sponging application is not recommended.

• Use a wide, soft hair brush. Generally, a 1 to 4 inch flat brush is used, depending on the surface area.
• Apply Liquitex varnish in 1-3 thin coats, rather than 1 thick coat. A thick coat will take longer to dry, may dry cloudy, may drip or sag during application and has a greater chance of showing brush strokes when dry.
• When applying Liquitex Matte Varnish, apply no more than 1-2 thin coats. A thick application may result in cloudiness when dry. If more than 2 coats are desired, first varnish with gloss varnish until desired thickness is achieved and then apply a final coat of matte varnish.
• Canvas should be placed horizontally in order to prevent the varnish from running. After varnishing, the surface should be shielded with a protective "tent". This will prevent any dust or airborne particles from settling into varnish as it dries.
• Apply Liquitex varnish in slightly overlapping pattern that covers entire artwork. Apply in horizontal and vertical brush strokes, so that entire area is evenly coated.
• Do not rework areas you might miss as the brush could pick up partially dried varnish and cause clouding. If areas are missed, wait until the varnish is dry and apply another coat.

There are so many things you can do with epoxy resin: it can be used to coat and protect artwork, photos or furniture, to make jewellery or sculptures...the sky’s the limit! Simply mix the two components in equal parts, carefully spread on the surface to be coated and let cure to obtain a beautiful high-gloss piece that will be protected from moisture and scratching.

• add in sparing amounts and mix thoroughly
• mixing with polyurethane will create a rich colour but will not change the colour of the pigment; it can then be used to paint and will produce a translucent rich colour
• pigments can be mixed with any paint to enrich or change colour (e.g. if you have red paint and wish to create purple, you could add a blue pigment)
• pigments can be mixed with melted wax for impasto painting or candle-making wax
• simple white glue can be used as a binder for a variety of crafting ideas

This matt finish is non-yellowing and transparent when dry, increasing the fluidity of acrylic colours and extending the drying time as a result.

Matt medium and gloss medium may be used on the same canvas to create interesting effects of depth and lighting.

Made from protective acrylic resin, this Sennelier fixative is perfect for artists seeking a powerful fixative which will not alter the appearance of their work. For an accurate application with minimal excess spray, turn the yellow nozzle in the cap to achieve the desired spray pattern, either horizontal or vertical.
