An extra-fine tip changes what a paint marker can do entirely. Where broad tips are used to cover and fill, the extra-fine tip allows for precise work: annotations on photos or prints, detail on dark or non-porous surfaces, outlines, fine lettering, touch-ups and corrections on mixed media pieces. It is also the preferred tool for artists working in small formats or wanting to incorporate text or fine lines into a painted composition. The opaque ink remains visible on almost any surface, including glass, metal, stone and plastic, opening up possibilities that standard pens and felt-tips cannot offer. To choose the right tip size, a simple rule applies: the smaller the detail and the smoother the surface, the finer the tip needs to be. The extra-fine suits lines under 1 mm and surfaces where the slightest bleed would be noticeable.
