Pébéo Colorex markers stand out through a feature that is rare in this category: they are refillable. An empty marker sold separately allows artists to create custom colour mixes or refill depleted shades, reducing long-term costs and making entirely custom colours possible. The palette available individually covers an unusually wide spectrum, with shades drawn from fine art painting vocabulary such as Payne's grey, raw sienna, sanguine, and sepia, alongside vivid hues and fluorescents that lean more toward illustration and graphic design. Like all watercolour brush-tip markers, the ink dilutes and blends with a wet brush to produce washes and gradients. Layering two Colorex colours while still wet or after reactivation produces optical blends that are difficult to predict in advance, making this a particularly engaging medium for experimentation.
