Intro to Watercolour: Starry Skies & Boreal Forest (FR)

Get transported to the heart of the boreal forest, under a magnificent starry sky! This workshop is an excellent way to discover watercolour painting and its characteristics: light, transparency and diffusion.

No need for specific drawing skills – just let yourself be guided and enjoy watching the colours evolve on your paper. A relaxing project that will delight nature lovers.

Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 13 to 99.

Part 1 : 
Exploring the materials

To begin, we will review all the materials needed to complete the project. We will then explore the different types of paper, as well as the best ways to stretch them so that they do not warp as you work.


Part 2 :
 Time to get creative!

In this second part, you will be guided through the step-by-step creation of your nightscape. You will learn how to work with watercolours on a wet surface, as well as how to use liquid frisket. You will explore the notion of atmospheric depth and Marie-Hélène will also show you different techniques for painting conifers.

✓ Watercolour paint set
✓ Watercolour paper pad (140 lb, cold-pressed, approximately 9 x 12 in)
✓ Round brush (size 12 or 16 for washes)
✓ Small fan brush
✓ Liquid frisket
✓ Masking tape
✓ White gel pencil
✓ Two cups of water
✓ Absorbent cloth
