Annie Hamel

Annie Hamel is a talented muralist and painter. Produced with oils and acrylics, her works are very realistic and generally inspired by portraits. Annie is mainly dedicated to mural art.

Self-taught, she painted her first mural in Quebec City in 2000. Since then, she has carried out numerous large-scale projects, including several in partnership with MU, a Montréal-based organization. She has collaborated with various Quebec companies specializing in mural art, decorative arts and stage sets.

Her professional career is peppered with numerous projects on the international scene, notably in Belgium, France, Mexico and the United States, where she participated in the creation of collaborative works. In 2019, she took part in two urban art festivals in Mexico City: Barrio Vivo and the CIMU Festival. She also took part in Imagine Mural Festival, and created a mural in the Smoketown district of Louisville, in the United States.

Her most recent artistic creations explore the pictorial representation of textile materials and patterns of diverse origins, their symbolic values, and the meaning created by their juxtaposition. She revisits traditional notions of trompe-l'oeil illusions to create textile landscapes. Annie attaches great importance to this in her work, especially the transparent materials she paints with great finesse.
