What types of workshops/courses does the DeSerres Studio offer?

We are committed to supporting creatives of all skill levels. The DeSerres Studio offers two different types of creative workshops/courses:

Live online workshops/courses: These workshops/courses are for everyone and take place at a specific time and date. Log on to Zoom to create in the comfort of your own home. Live streaming allows you to receive useful tips from your teachers in real-time. Live workshops/courses are recorded: you will receive a viewing link (available for 1 month) within 48 to 72 hours after the workshop/course.

In-store workshops/courses: Several DeSerres stores offer workshops/courses for all skill levels. If you enjoy meeting other artists and creatives, our in-store workshops/courses may be a better option.

How do I know if a workshop is right for me?

DeSerres Studio teachers are there to help you, no matter what your skill level is! Whether in-store or online, workshop descriptions will help you determine if the pace is right for you.

Workshops/courses are always labelled with the following skill levels:

  • beginner
  • beginner-intermediate
  • intermediate
  • intermediate-advanced
  • advanced


  • Intro workshops/courses are for beginners. The teacher covers basic techniques at a slow pace and offers a lot of individual help to all. No previous experience is required.

    Exploratory workshops/courses are designed for beginner-intermediate and intermediate creatives. They are offered at a medium pace; the teacher reviews basic techniques and offers individual help to all.

    Advanced classes are for intermediate and advanced creatives. They are offered at a medium pace and individual help is provided if needed. The teacher adapts the workshop to the skill level of participants.

How do I register for an online workshop?

Our workshops/courses are offered on Zoom. To participate, click on the Register button on the workshop page. You will need to enter your information into the Zoom registration form and pay the fee. Once you have completed this step, you will receive an automatic confirmation email from Zoom, as well as a reminder email 24 hours before your workshop.

Are the virtual workshops recorded?

We record all virtual workshops. After completing the course, you will receive an email (within 24-4 hours) with a link and access code to the workshop video. The video is available for 1 month.

I was unable to attend the workshop, can I watch it again?

If you registered for one of our virtual workshops, but were unable to attend at the scheduled time and date, don't panic! You will receive an email (within 24-48 hours) with a link and access code to your workshop. Our recorded virtual workshops are available for 1 month. 

Can I enter the workshop if I am late?

Are you 10 to 30 minutes latefor your virtual workshop? You can still log in, even if the workshop has already started – it won't disturb the other students or the flow of the course. You can then catch up on the parts you missed by reviewing the workshop recording.

Do I have to buy everything on the workshop materials list?

We recommend having the core products, as you will need them to complete the exercises during the workshop – but remember to check at home first – you may alread have the necessary materials. Optional products are marked (optional).

Can I get a refund if I can't attend the workshop?

If you are unable to attend the workshop after you have registered, we cannot offer a refund. However, you will be able to enjoy a recorded version, and view it at your own pace, for a full month after the workshop.

Are the workshops live?

Even online, we believe that teacher guidance and feedback are essential to a high-quality creative experience. That's why our virtual workshops are live! At the end of each class, you can ask questions in the chat room, and get advice from our experts.

What should I do if I did not receive my Zoom access code?

If you have registered for one of our workshops, but have not received your secret access code, please write to us at zoom@deserres.ca. We will be happy to answer your questions Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What type of device can I use to participate in my workshop?

You can participate in your online workshop using any electronic device that supports Zoom: computers, phones or tablets. Make sure you have Zoom on your device before the workshop/course.


In-store workshops and courses

What is the difference between a course and a workshop?

Workshops are one-time events and last 2, 2.5 or 3 hours.

Courses consist of several workshops, which are combined to form sessions. They allow you to explore certain mediums in greater depth. Courses can be scheduled over an entire day (6 hours of creativity) or, in the form of a session, one workshop per week of either 2 hours, 2.5 hours or 3 hours, over a period of 6 weeks, 8 weeks or 10 weeks.

How do you schedule courses/workshops?

DeSerres stores schedule their own courses and workshops. You can contact a DeSerres store near you to learn more about their upcoming events, or contact the store that is offering the course/workshop you wish to attend.

How early should I arrive before the course/workshop starts?

We recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before the course/workshop begins so you have time to set up.

How do I register for a course/workshop?

You chose your course/workshop, but don't know how to register? You have three options!

Register on our website. In the In-store courses/workshops section, you can register and pay for the course/workshop you wish to attend via our Booxi reservation system. Simply pay the registration fee using a banking card; you will then receive a confirmation email upon completion of your purchase.

In-store registration. You can register for an in-store course/workshop with one of our experts at the store offering the course/workshop you wish to attend.

Registration by phone. You can also register by phone; contact the store offering the course/workshop you wish to attend to complete and pay for your registration.

Do I have to buy everything on the materials list?

Materials are not provided with your course/workshop registration. We recommend that you bring the essentials, as you will need them to complete the exercises during the workshop – but be sure to check at home first! You may already have the necessary materials. Optional products are marked (optional).

The course/workshop I want to attend is full, what can I do?

If the course/workshop you wish to attend is full, please contact the store that is hosting it. One of our experts will put you on the waiting list, or perhaps offer you a new date.

Can I cancel my registration?

If you purchased an in-store workshop, you may cancel your registration and get a refund, or change your registration prior to the workshop date.

If you purchased a course (a series of workshops), you may cancel your registration and get a refund, or change your registration prior to the start date of your session. We recommend that you notify the store as soon as possible (minimum 48 hours before your course).

How do I cancel or change my registration?

Something came up? Contact the store hosting the course/workshop you registered for as soon as possible (before the start date) to cancel or modify your registration.

What happens if my course/workshop is cancelled or rescheduled?

Courses/workshops may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled date. If your course/workshop is cancelled or rescheduled, we will contact you by email and/or phone.

In the case of a cancellation by DeSerres, you will receive a full refund. If your course/workshop is rescheduled, you will have the option to keep your registration, or cancel and receive a full refund.
