Workshop 1: Painting, tools and mediums

Monday, May 6th

The course begins with a description of the types of acrylics and how to choose the quality of paint according to your needs and the desired result. What are mediums and how to use them in our practice. Mastering brushstrokes, how to choose the right brush for the line you want, we'll practise with brushes: flat, angular, cat's tongue, round and fine long. We'll also talk about different practical tools to work with.

Workshop 2: Applying the paint

Monday, May 13th

Paint can be applied in many different ways, and we'll be testing out a number of them, including flat tints, gradients, fresh-on-fresh fades, rubbings, withdrawals, the spatula and many others. A whole world of textures and colours to discover!

Workshop 3: Colour

Monday, May 20th

Here we'll be talking about harmonising our colours with a main colour and mixing them to prepare our basic palette, which we'll use to create simple landscapes. We'll start preparing for the different landscapes that we'll work on in more detail in Workshop 4.

Workshop 4: Simple landscapes

Monday, May 27th

We will put into practice the different techniques we have learnt to create cloudy skies, trees, land and lakes within simple landscapes. As we practise, we'll talk about the importance of observation, simplifying shapes and composition in painting.
