Working with the highly texturized effects of watercolour on Yupo, students will learn how to paint an abstract Petunia flower using watercolour paints and watercolour crayons (watercolour pencils can also be used). No prior experience to these materials is necessary.
Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 16 to 99.

Part 1: Material overview and initial sketch
Gabrielle will go over the materials used in this class and then the class will begin the initial sketch of the subject in watercolour crayons or watercolour pencils using a reference photo.
Part 2: Painting the flower
As the instructor demonstrates, the students will follow along in painting the flower with the watercolour paints.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Yupo watercolour paper (minimum size 8”x10”) plus scrap for testing out colours
✓ Watercolour palette - CLEAN clear or white plastic takeout tray or lid will also work
✓ Watercolor paint, student and/or professional grade: Ultramarine Blue, Opera Pink Hooker’s Green, Lemon Yellow
✓ Watercolour crayons or watercolour pencils
✓ Watercolour brushes: oval or mob brush, #6 round
✓ Paper towel or cloth rag
✓ Water for paint (in jar or container)
✓ Reference
