This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn more about acrylic painting and collage techniques as part of the process of creating a mixed-media landscape. You'll learn how to create a collage background, then how to create an acrylic landscape with ease. Dilution, colour mixing, textured application, acrylic mediums and their uses - step by step, artist Maud Besson will show you all her techniques. A project accessible to all will be created during the workshop.

Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 12 to 99.

Part 1: Demonstration and explanation of the equipment used during the workshop

Maud will show you what type of paper you can use to make collage backgrounds on canvas, as well as the types of acrylic medium with which you can glue them. The artist will also talk to you about acrylic paint and brushes.
 

Part 2: Making the project - Step 1

Collage the background using decorative paper or newspaper, then after drying, create the main subject. Maud will tell you all about collage and the papers to use.

Part 3: Making the project - Step 2

Maud will show you how to make a Quebec landscape step by step and give you all the information you need to complete the painting. From drawing to finishing, she'll show you how to complete the project step by step.

List of materials to bring:

✓ HB and/or B pencils, eraser
✓ 1 canvas 8x10 inches (cardboard or mounted)
✓ Gesso
✓ Medium gloss or gel medium gloss.
✓ Brush kit all sizes (square brushes, round brushes, fine brushes) hog hair and synthetic bristles; including 1 square brush slightly wider 1 inch minimum.
✓ Acrylic kit primary colours + a burnt umber brown
✓ Decorative paper or newsprint for the collage we will make on the canvas background.
✓ Satin, matt or gloss varnish
✓ 1 Glass of water and cloth
✓ A palette with alveoli for mixing colours
✓ Hair dryer
