Creatively celebrate fall – the season of cosy colours! In this two-hour workshop, you will learn how to paint a gouache landscape inspired by the beautiful warm and cool tones of fall.
Using just three primary colours and white, you will explore how to develop an underpainting, and build it into a complete work of art. Gabrielle will also discuss the beautiful watercolour-like qualities of gouache, as well as the layering abilities that make it stand out as a truly unique medium. The perfect workshop for gouache enthusiasts of all levels.
Open to beginners and intermediates.

Part 1: Material overview, colour mixing and underpainting
In Part 1, Gabrielle will go over all the necessary materials, as well as demonstrate some colour mixing techniques. She will then discuss how to begin a painting with a technique known as underpainting.Part 2: Layering and final touches
In Part 2, you will learn how to deepen your colours by adding more layers to your artwork. You will then add any finishing touches and details.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Palette
✓ Watercolour paper (140 lb, cold press, minimum 8 x 10 in with at least a half-inch border plus scraps for testing colours)
✓ Jar/container of water
✓ Paper towel or cloth
✓ Pencil (HB or lighter)
✓ Eraser
✓ Gouache (Warm Red and Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, White; any brand)
✓ Watercolour brushes (round #2, 4, 6 and a mop brush)
✓ Painting surface (such as a masonite board to fit your paper)
