This two-hour workshop is perfect for intermediate-level artists who would like to further develop their botanical watercolour painting skills. Kathryn will focus on sketching composition drawings, colour mixing guides and painting techniques to create a series of nature-inspired watercolour paintings on paper.

Part 1: Get to know your materials
To begin, Kathryn will provide an overview of the materials. She will then create composition sketches and demonstrate techniques, as well as provide colour mixing recipes for botanical watercolour painting.
Part 2: Botanical watercolour painting techniques
Kathryn will guide you through using watercolour brushstrokes and layering techniques to create beautiful botanical paintings on watercolour paper.
List of materials to bring:
✓ Watercolour paint set
✓ Watercolour paint palette
✓ Watercolour paintbrushes (short handle, natural or synthetic flat and round bristles, sizes 2 and up)
✓ Watercolour paper (cold press, 140 lb/300 g, recommended size: 9 x 12 in)
✓ Sketchbook or notebook
✓ Painter’s tape (1 in width)
✓ Support board (masonite, wood or plastic board, approx. 1-2 in larger than paper size)
✓ Two water containers (upcycled glass or plastic jars)
✓ Paper towel or upcycled cotton fabric
✓ Graphite pencil
✓ Kneaded or white eraser
✓ Cotton swabs
✓ Sea silk sponge
✓ Salt
