Watercolour travel journal - Nature and vegetation (FR)

This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn more about watercolour techniques used to create nature landscapes and travel journals. On the programme: demonstration and explanation of the type of equipment used and how to use it. You will learn how to create beautiful watercolour landscapes and how to get the best out of trees and other vegetation. One or more projects accessible to all will also be completed during the workshop. Step by step, artist Maud Besson will show you all her techniques!

Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 13 to 99.

Part 1: Painting, tools and mediums

The course begins with a description of the types of acrylics and how to choose the quality of paint according to your needs and the desired result. What are mediums and how to use them in our practice. Mastering brushstrokes, how to choose the right brush for the line you want, we'll practise with brushes: flat, angular, cat's tongue, round and fine long. We'll also talk about different practical tools to work with.
 

Part 2: Applying the paint

Maud will show you and explain her techniques for creating nature landscapes. Discover or rediscover several techniques related to drawing and watercolour while obtaining simple and practical tools. Everything will be shown to you step by step and one or more projects accessible to all will be carried out during the workshop.

List of materials to bring:

✓ DeSerres HB or H graphite pencils
✓ Staedtler eraser
✓ Medium watercolour brush n.12 and a finer brush n.2 + a very fine brush
✓ Watercolour paint - Set of approximately 10-12 colours minimum in cups or tubes
✓ Tablet of paper for watercolour 9x12", or 7x10 "all brands, or travel notebook for watercolour (paper thickness ideally 300 gr.)
✓ Coloured pencils (optional)
✓ A palette with cells for mixing colours
✓ Masonite board 11x14" approx. to stretch your sheets if you are not using a travel notebook
✓ Low-adhesion green masking tape for stretching your sheets if you're not using a travel notebook
✓ 2 jars of water
✓ Paper towel and cloth rag
✓ Hair dryer
✓ Watercolour type paper to test colours before applying
