How to illustrate an iceberg in pen and ink

Step 1: Mask off geometric diamond shapes on the bottom half of your paper with low tack masking tape.

Step 2: Using watercolour and a soft round paintbrush, paint the geometric shapes in various shades. Remove the tape once the paint is dry.

Step 3: With a dip pen and ink, draw looser geometric shapes on the upper half of your paper to create a reflection of the ones painted below. Shade with crosshatching to add depth. Let dry.

Step 4: Using a ruler, draw a large diamond shape to frame your drawing.

Tips:

Sketch out your design in a light pencil before you start. Gently erase your pencil lines after your ink and paint are dry
Use a dip pen to draw fine lines with Pébéo Mixtion Adhesive and add gold leaf details
Rinse your nibs with water when done
Add texture with sponges
