INSTRUCTIONS:

How to use Schmincke Aqua Bronzes

Step 1:

Use a palette knife to carefully apply some bronze powder to your palette. Aqua Bronzes are available in 5 iridescent hues:

  • Rich gold
  • Rich pale gold
  • Pale gold
  • Copper
  • Silver

Step 2:

Mix the powder with a small amount of water. Start with the smallest amount of water possible and add more until you reach the desired consistency. The amount of water used will affect the opacity and brilliance of the paint. Dilute with more water for a sparkling and thin metallic shimmer, or use less water for a rich and opaque metallic paint.

Step 3:

Schmincke Aqua Bronzes can be applied over watercolour and gouache paints, or mixed with them to add a pearlescent sparkle. Like other water-soluble paints, these bronzes are best used on paper, cardboard, painting board or canvas. Formulated with real metal pigments (bronze or aluminium), these paints are very lightfast, opaque and extremely shiny.

Step 4:

Washing Aqua Bronze pigments down the drain is not recommended. It is best to allow excess paint to dry and be thrown in the garbage if possible. It is best to mix only the amount of Aqua Bronze needed shortly before application. Paint can be rehydrated with water later for future applications, and varnished when dried with varnishes suitable for watercolour and gouache. More versatile and easier to apply than gold, silver or copper leaf, Schmincke Bronzes will soon become your go-to paint for metallic finishes!
