WHAT DOES “BIOBASED” MEAN IN RELATION TO PÉBÉO’S NEW RESINS?
Carbon is the main ingredient used in manufacturing resin. When a resin is labeled “biobased,” it means that it’s derived from natural sources. Gédéo biobased resins are made partially from natural ingredients, making them better for the environment than conventional resins. The Crystal and Pro resins contain 50% biobased carbon, and the glazing resin 40%.
BIOBASED GLAZING RESIN
Perfect for adding texture to your canvas, Pébéo’s new biobased glazing resin contains more than 40% natural ingredients. Its semi-liquid texture is perfect for use on rimless or uneven supports. It has a short setting time (dry: 1.5 hours/fully set: 6 hours), allowing for better control over patterns and designs. Avoid adding colour to the glazing resin as this could cause a chemical reaction. If you want to colour your resin, use Crystal resin instead, but limit the colouring to 10% of the mixture. How to work with biobased glazing resin It’s very important to remember that you only have a 10-minute window to work with the biobased glazing resin, making it unsuitable for use on large surfaces. We recommend you work in small sections or on small canvases. The biobased glazing resin is ideal for artists who want to glaze or protect their work, add depth to flat surfaces, and create patterns with a pipette.
CRYSTAL BIOBASED RESIN (150 ML, 300 ML, 750 ML)
Pébéo’s new Crystal resin contains more than 50% biobased ingredients. Its liquid texture is perfect for casting in moulds or on small, rimmed supports. It is ultra-transparent, making it ideal for the inclusion of natural elements, such as leaves or dried flowers. Because it doesn’t yellow, it can also be used as a glossy protective varnish on mixed-media pieces. The resin can be tinted, provided the colouring doesn’t exceed roughly 10% of the mixture. Its bubble-free and low-odour formula and extremely hard finish make this resin a must-have for all your creations.
PRO BIOBASED RESIN (3 L AND 6 L)
Pébéo’s Pro biobased resin is the ideal product for artists who think big. This resin, made from over 50% biobased ingredients, has an ultra-transparent, liquid texture identical to the Crystal resin, but is available in larger quantities. Use it to cast large surfaces, as a glossy protective varnish on mixed-media work, or to create inclusions with leaves or dried flowers. Like the Crystal resin, Pro resin is low odour and doesn’t yellow or form bubbles, making it a delight to work with.
